[M GIGS DAY] | Revealing the scene of Royal Pirates’ M GIGS LIVE Concert!

Hello Mnet family! First off, thought it’s a little late, we’d like to thank you for giving MGigs lots of love in the past year. We plan on continuing forward like this in 2016 as well! We promise that we will bring to you more booming stages, but now it’s time to reveal our last stage of 2015 MGigs Live. RP opened up their concert on January 9th at M Concert Hall in Apgujeong. Is it the strength of a visual band…? The competition at Mgigs this day was much fiercer than usual! There was a burning application period, but RP’s live stage was even hotter! Let’s meet them now!

VID | Most of it is the basic stuff: What were you doing in the year and four months you were away, please introduce Run Away, what changes have you gone through, any plans for concerts... and two fun questions:

Q. If you could play the bass again, would you go back to it?
J: Yes. But I don’t want to give up the keyboard either. So if I could go back to playing the bass, I’d want to play both instruments.
H: Then you could do it all: bass, keyboard, and programming...
J: That’s right.
M: It would also make our performances a lot more interesting, if he could switch between instruments like that.

Q. If you had a little sister, which member would you NOT want to introduce them to?
J: That would be Moon Kim.
M: Why? Why??
J: As a man...? :Checks to make sure he heard the question right, and confirms that Moon is who he would NOT introduce his little sister to: As the vocalist he has the most popularity, so I don’t want her to get jealous. She’s a little sister I love so much, like a daughter... (I don’t want to put her through that)
H: This is the brother’s mindset!
J: So... Moon can just... go away. Hahah. I’m kidding... :pats Moon:
M: No, It’s alright.

M: I Would pick myself.
H: Really? Why?
M: I’m so busy nowadays... I wouldn’t be able to take good care of her.
H: The other members are busy too, are they be able to take good care of their sisters?
M: :laughs nervously:

RP: Hello GlanceTV viewers, we are R! P! We’ve come back with the album, 3. Point. 3. It’s nice to meet you.

 
EXSY: The Run Away MV... Well, the song itself kind of holds the meaning of wanting to run away from the difficulties of reality. The MV symbolizes our own true experiences that we’ve overcome. If see the symbolism while watching our MV, I think it will be very interesting.

Moon: I think the highlight of the MV was the breakdown in the middle. The highlight comes after the second refrain... At that point we start headbanging and it’s a catharsis of all our energy. I think it’s the best part when we’re perform it, or when you listen to the song, or watch the MV.

James: I personally really like the part during EXSY’s break, when he throws the drumstick, and it’s captured in slow-motion... Wow. It was amazing.

James: I wish all the fans a lot of fortune for the new year in 2016. The most important thing this (coming) year is “health” so I hope you can all pass the time with us healthily!

Moon: I hope you are all healthy next year and are blessed with only good things. In the meantime, I'll be really thankful if you can listen to RP’s songs a lot. Have a happy new year!

EXSY: I hope we can enjoy 2016 together. Thank you.

[15.12.28] [M+Interview] Reborn as RP, New Start

The group hailed as a flower boy band, Royal Pirates have returned. After a year and four months, not only has the Royal Pirates’s music style changed, they’ve even changed their name to RP.

Q. How are the reactions to the album?
James: People are going crazy.
Moon: Really outrageous!
EXSY: We enjoyed working on the album and we’re proud that we’re receiving such a great response from it, since it is an album we have a lot of attachment to. Thank you for giving it so much love.

Q. The album is doing very well on overseas charts.
Moon: Since it’s rising on the American charts, we’re starting to feel like wanting to have some performances in America.
James: We haven’t had a performance in America for a very long time, and the fans who were in America all along have said they miss us. We’re so thankful for them, and we miss them too.

Q. The music video held much of their personal stories, as well.
EXSY: We didn’t know we would be showing in the MV. The director (Min Oh) suddenly came to find us and said he wanted to talk to us about our lives, and we thought it was just a talk between hyung and dongsaeng. It ended up being that he put a lot of our life story into the MV.
Moon: Our traumas are something that aren’t easily said aloud, but I think it’s nice to have expressed them through music and art. They’re tools that can help us express things uniquely and sincerely.

Q. A scene in the MV even tells us the story of member James’ accident this summer.
James: It definitely wasn’t easy. The charm of this director is that he was able to draw out our stories and the difficulties we’ve come to surpass. We’re thankful that he was able to express it so artistically. We really hope we can work together with him again on a different music video.

Q. They’ve been together for so long they’re practically family. But there are bound to be disparities.
James: Rather than fighting, we just talk it out maturely. (Regarding the album) Personally, I’ve only worked on three of the songs on this album, and the remaining three I was in the hospital. So they don’t hold very much of my opinion. (laugh) But I like it, the album.

Q. You don’t even fight over what to eat?
Moon: If someone suggests something we usually all just agree. For EXSY, if he wants to eat something different from the rest of us, he’ll go and eat by himself. He goes to eat what he wants to eat. In one moment we may find out he’s missing, and he’ll say, “Oh, I went to eat OO.”

Q. What do you think of James’ change in position?
EXSY: Since James’ position has changed, there are a lot more electronic elements added into the songs, and we can add in piano lines as well. I think it creates a really unique sound.

Q. If presented with the opportunity, do you want to come out with a sweet song or Christmas song?
Moon: I actually specialize in writing sweet songs. I write a lot of sweeter songs but for right now, we’re making a lot more mature songs for the music broadcasts. I don’t know when we’ll be able to include a sweeter song in there... But personally, I do like writing sweeter songs.

Q. Plans for the future?
Moon: We want to let people hear a lot more of our songs and in 2016 we want to complete our promotions and just become an RP that people can see often. Please anticipate our music in the future. Please give us a lot of love~

[15.12.23] RP, Global Rock Band First Known Overseas

Having first been known overseas, the three member bang known as the Royal Pirates have returned after a year and a half under the name of RP.

RP is a band with a unique history. They first received recognition in America for the songs they uploaded to youtube, and after being scouted debuted in Korea in 2013. Since then they’ve been noticed for their releases of “Drawing the Line” and “Love Toxic”, and have even gone on tour with actor Lee Minho. The band with visuals and musicality is always rising in their number of fans.

There’s a reason for the band’s sudden change in sound and name. This past summer member James was involved in an accident involving an entry door which left his wrist in danger of being amputated. It is because of this accident that he had to let go of the bass he’s been holding for the past thirteeen years of his life. This accident is coupled with some difficult circumstances faced by the other members, however through their combined passion for music and strong bonds of friendship the three have overcome these crises and comeback even stronger.
