00:12 I miss you and… I love you

00:16 Feeling the importance of family, and filling in the spaces left behind

00:20 Oppa, we received an invitation

00:23 He said if we had time, we could go play

00:25 With a strange invitation, NY Family has been invited to the place of horror stories, Harlem!

00:30 So, what will be their fate?

00:33 NY Family’s alternate life, starts right now!

00:36 Episode 8 - Though Our Skin Color is Different, We Are One

00:43 (Fresh and crisp, New York’s Spring has come)

00:46 (The peaceful smell of spring)

00:48 (The bright sunlight makes the heart warm)

00:51 (A spring weekend bursting with relaxation) To feel the sunshine on their faces

00:55  (Out of the house for some shopping) New Yorkers have come out of their houses

00:57 (New Yorkers enjoying the healing of spring)

1:01 But today the New York family is heading towards a very special place.

1:05 (Heading some time to the south)

1:07 (The place NY Family has arrived is?)

1:12 (Many people have gathered in the early morning)

1:15 (In the sunny weather people have come to this place)

1:17 (911 Memorial Park)

1:23 (On 2001, September 11, after the attack on the World Trade Center, this park was made in order to remember the victims of the tragedy)

1:30 (Another name for the location is Ground Zero, carrying the meaning that everything starts again from the beginning)

1:34 (World Trade Center) There were two buildings, the North Tower and the South Tower

1:39 (In place of where the buildings were, the North Pool and South Pools have been created)

1:46 (The pain from that day has been transformed into a memorial park)

1:50 (People from all around the world come to find the memorial of that time)

1:57 (In the midst of all the people tourists also causally visit)

2:02 (The special reason NY Fam has sought out this place is?) I’ve only ever seen it on TV… it feels strange to be standing here.

2:07 (What special story will they become aware of in this place?)

2:11 (This must be the place)

2:15 These names?

2:18 (The edges of the wall are filled with names of the victims)

2:25 Each of these names is one of the victims…

2:29 (People inside the building, people on the plane, policemen, rescue officials…etc)

2:34 (The names of the victims are separated into sectors)

2:40 The names of the victims, totals to about 3000 people

2:50 (At the time Jinhee was only 12)

2:54 I remember hearing about it on the TV

2:58 (For Chunhee, who was 23, it’s a bit of a fresher memory) I remember wonder how…terrible it must have been here

3:07 (The symbol of America’s economy and capitalism, WTC) I thought about all the people…

3:11 (New York’s Landmark, twin buildings known as one) …who were hurting and having a hard time because of this…

3:15 (After 911, New York’s skyline changed indefinitely)

3:19 (Big Hyung felt the shocks of that day the most) The whole world changed a lot after the events of 9-11

3:26 First off it wasn’t just about someone else’s country, or even a story about a far country

3:30 It wasn’t about skin…

3:33 (A tragedy felt by the whole world)

3:38 (In the place where it burned to the ground, a heavy blockade fell)

3:46 There’s someone I want to introduce you to

3:54 (An elderly gentlemen who has come to meet NY Family)

3:59 (Kim Pyeongkyeom-sunsaengnim (73) 9.11 Korean President of the Fallen)

4:03 (What does he have to tell them…?)

4:06 In the 70’s I came as a student and settled here

4:10 My second son, I had two sons, my second…

4:14 On September 11, became a victim

4:18 (Ah…)

4:23 (Carefully telling them the story of that day)

4:29 On that day, I was working and an employee came

4:32 He told us that there was an accident with a plane at the World Trade Center and turned on the TV for me

4:36 Looking at it I saw that the North Tower had smoke coming from the 97th floor…

4:58 (At first people thought it was an accident due to a smaller plane deviating from course)

5:03 It passed and I thought it was fine, So I went back to work….

5:07 (But)

5:09 (About 30 minutes later)

5:12 It came out on the news again, that a plane collided with the South Tower and exploded…

5:18 (Reports of the North Tower collision spread over prime news)

5:35 (No one could have predicted the second collision) // Watching it on the TV, it wasn’t just an accident…

5:38 (2001, Sept. 11; 9:03 - UA175 collided with the North Tower) // …it was terrorism.

5:42 (The terrorist group’s attack went as planned) // It was a terrorist act.

5:45 (Citizens had caught the events of the second collision on video)

5:58 (Watching it again, the moment is still as shocking)

6:03 (The two buildings are in the fiery midst)

6:11 I was so nervous, I kept watching in front of the TV

6:15 I was surprised, and then a little later the South Tower also…

6:19 The second, South Tower collapsed…

6:23 (2001, Sept. 11; 9:59 - South Tower Collapse)

6:35 (2001, Sept. 11; 10:30 - North Tower Collapse)

6:44 (The news anchors have lost all words to say)

6:48 (In light of the live broadcast all news momentarily turned static)

6:54 (Hearing it directly, the moment was extremely dangerous)

7:00 (The shocking truth keeps coming!)

7:04 My son was working on the 97th floor

7:06 (If it’s the 97th floor then… it’s where the plane hit)

7:12 (Of the South Tower the 93~99 floors were the first collision point)

7:16 (Stuck in the building, with no hope of evacuation on the 97th floor)

7:20 (It is here where the professor’s son became a victim)

7:24 (A father who speaks until the end…)

7:29 (A picture of his son taken one year before the accident is the most precious keepsake) // This picture was taken when he was 26… no 25, two years before the accident

7:41 (If he was born in ‘74…)

7:45 He was younger than me by a year

7:48 Since I was born in ‘73

7:50 (If he were still alive today… he’d be Seongsu’s age)

7:57 (The age at which… a person should be fully active)

8:03 It’s already been thirteen years since he’s left

8:06 (It isn’t just someone else’s business to Seongsu)

8:10 (He takes a necktie from his breast pocket) // This necktie…

8:16 This is the last tie he wore.. the same one

8:20 (This tie is the exact one as in the picture) // I brought it here. the color is a little different, but it’s the same tie.

8:28 (It becomes a precious keepsake of his son) // He woke up at 7am on Sept. 11…

8:32 (The room his son left for work that day) // His room is still the same as it was.

8:36 (Has been untouched, left as is for thirteen years)

8:40 Your wife must be taking it with much difficulty

8:42 (The sadness doesn’t leave the family left behind) // Yes, she’s not taking it well. I was going to bring her with me today but she didn’t want to come.

8:49 (Thinking of his own parents, Seongsu’s heart hurts)

8:57 (But there’s an even more shocking truth) // This is… the Korean victims…

9:02 (The Korean victims of the 9-11 terrorist attack was a total of 21 people) // .. There were a total of 21 of them

9:08 (It’s a number of Korean victims that’s far more than one would think)

9:24 Some of these people were extremely young

9:29 (Christine Lee-Hanson, 2 years) (Sue Kim-Hanson, 34 years)

9:36 (The new family was in the plane when it crashed into the South Tower)

9:41 (A different country’s story took place here as well) // The events of 9-11 that were thought to be another country’s story…

9:44 (You’ve heard it then but have forgotten) // But it’s not just someone else’s…

9:47 (Our story never ends) …but our own as well.

9:51 (Following him to find his son’s name)

9:55 (Without words, Seongsu follows one step behind)

10:00 (He looks conflicted)

10:04 (This place he’s come to without fail for thirteen years)

10:09 (He’s stopped in front of his son’s name)

10:18 (Quietly, he places the flower)

10:30 (Without hesitation his hand runs over the name)

10:44 (Only the sound of the waterfalls breaks the silence)

10:50 (Silently watching that appearance from the back, there’s Seongsu)

10:59 (After running his hands over it for some time)

11:03 (He places a kiss on his son’s name)

11:18 (At that moment)

11:22 (The tears choose to fall)

11:30 (As if it were his own story)

11:34 (Eldest-hyung’s tears fall unrepressed)

11:53 At that moment.. how hard must it have been for him….

11:57 Really, how hard must it have been…

12:00 That sadness… the sadness of parents who have lost their child… there really are no words to say

12:07 I know that I felt that way because I’m older… At that time, I really felt it

12:17 How sad a thing the 9-11 attack was…

12:25 (After finishing quietly placing the flowers)

12:32 (Sunsaengnim tightly grabs hold of maknae Jinhee’s hand)

12:40 (They all quietly commend the soul of the deceased)

12:46 Feeling deep in their hearts the sadness of losing family…

12:49 The NY Family quietly pays their respects.

12:55 They move to find the names of the other victims of the attack // (NY Fam sets off to look for the names of the other victims)

13:16 (They’ve paid their respects to twenty names)

13:25 (That that time, Chunhee discovers something)

13:30 (Someone’s name… and her unborn child)

13:38 (Chunhee looks like he’s full of thoughts)

13:48 (He’s found something with his earnest eyes)

13:53 I saw earlier that of the passengers on the plane…a daughter…

14:00 A young girl and her mother and father, the whole family

14:09 I was wondering if their names were together…or if they were in different places…

14:15 (As a father of a small daughter… his heart goes out to the family of victims) // I’m looking for the mother’s name

14:38 (L>R: Father, Daughter, Mother)

14:44 (With the last flower)

14:48 (He quietly pays his respects)

14:55 (And also…)

15:01 (Chunhee mourns them)

15:23 There was the name of the father, mother, and daughter right there… a whole family right there

15:30 I suddenly thought of my own family

15:36 I was really sorry for them… because we are living so well…

15:50 (Please be happy together…)

15:55 (After they memorialized the Korean victims)

15:59 (On their way back, a tree catches the eye!)

16:01 It’s called the “Survivor Tree”

16:03 After the attack most of the trees in this area all died

16:06 This is the only one that survived

16:09 (A unique tree that lives in a place of tragedy) // If you look, it’s strange… this is the only tree with blossoms on it

16:14 (In a place that was burned thirteen years ago) // There are a lot of trees around…

16:17 (This Survivor Tree is flowering with life) // …this is the only one with some color on it

16:21 That’s amazing

16:24 That this tree is able to flower after such a tragic accident in front of our eyes… // (In place of such a hopeless situation)

16:28 I feel like it’s sending a message of hope

16:30 (The tree tells a story of Miracle and Hope)

16:36 (The devastation changed New York’s skyline)

16:39 (In the midst of inerasable wounds and despair)

16:48 (Full of the desire that that day’s tragedy would not occur again)

16:52 (90 Countries and 3000 victims left behind in this place of despair)

16:57 (Reborn as a place of hope and memorialization)

[[  ]]

17:45 (After his son left)

17:49 (A scholarship foundation was established under his name)

17:53 If that’s the case, wouldn’t there be someone who could benefit from this?

17:55 Like scholarship funds…

17:57 As Koreans (the younger generation)…

18:00 They could make a world better to live in, it would be great this could give them a role in the fututre

18:06 That’s right.  There may be accidents but… // (There’s nothing you can do about something that’s already happened)

18:11 …more important than that is not about not being defeated but not forgetting. // (But for the sake of not letting it recur again there are things that need to be done)

18:16 As well as finding hope.

18:21 Finding hope in despair is something everyone should strive to do.

18:29 (Harlem)

18:32 (Scary (?) New York)

18:34 (Synonymous with an area of high crime)

18:36 The most famous place in Harlem is 125th Street

18:39 (An invitation to Harlem)

18:42 A scary place

18:44 (A densely African American population)

18:46 (Stepping foot in this rough place, NY Family’s fate is?!)

18:50 (Riding the subway to the North, running and running)

18:53 (Arrival at the promised destination, 125th Street)

18:55 I’m looking forward to it

18:57 (Feeling both nervousness and anticipation)

19:00 (Finally, into the heart of Harlem!!)

19:03 (Their first impression of Harlem is…?!)

19:07 (There are black people and black people)

19:11 (It’s Harlem alright…)

19:13 (Stiff)

19:16 (Among  all these many Af-Ams)

19:18 (Where is the friend who invited them?)

19:20 (They should have gotten some prior info from their friend)

19:22 (But it is Indeed, the promised location)

19:24 (He tried making contact…but no one picks up)

19:30 (Suddenly standing in the middle of the road;)

19:36 (Where are you… my friends~)

19:40 (CH & KH wander off to the other side of the road) // There’s not much here…

19:45 Try calling him! Ask him where he is…

19:48 (JP finally gets through)

[[ ]]

19:54 Over there!

19:58 (The friend is here!)

20:08 (Why are they like this;)

20:11 (Surprised)

20:13 (Now KH realizes)

20:16 (The friend I met at the bakery!)

20:19 (DeShawn/Desean/Deshaun Hendricks  [T/N: IDKKKKK Just pick one]; Farmingdale State College, Industrial Engineering Major)

20:24 (Next to him, there’s one more?!)

20:26 (Twins!!)

20:28 (Dante Hendricks; Farmingdale State College, Industrial Engineering Major - The same profile; )

20:31 (But)

20:33 (There’s another person who looks exactly the same!!!!)

20:37 This is my dad

20:42 (You can call them triplets, the twins’ father looks so similar)

20:45 (The mysterious (?) Three Hendricks)

20:48 (And lastly, at 2m tall, this friend…)

20:51 (The twins’ good friend Kairi) [T/N: Oh jesus, the names. OTL]

20:54 (By the way, he’s really tall)

20:58 (Even the tallest hyungs of NY Fam can’t match up to his height)

21:02 Hello~ Everyone!

21:04 (Suddenly interjected (?) by a passing mother)

21:08 (Out of nowhere, speaking rapidly;)

21:12 Okay?

21:13 (There are unhesitant people of Harlem all around)

21:17 (We’re anticipating it… this place)

21:20 (Exploring the heart of Harlem, 125th Street)

21:25 (Restaurants, Shopping, Cultural arts; Harlem’s best street where you can enjoy all these things)

21:31 (Their style is uniquely Harlem)

21:34 (To us, it’s full of unfamiliarity)

21:36 (:But: To them, we are also unfamiliar)

21:39 (Who the heck are you)

21:41 (While receiving warning glances)

21:43 (They also receive warm greetings~)

21:46 (The people of Harlem are free and full of life)

21:51 (Dance hazing?!)

21:53 (At  the center of the people of the neighborhood, there’s also the twins’ father!)

21:59 (Walking along, everyone is family~)

22:04 (Harlem’s Chieftain)

22:07 (Jinhee takes a liking to the scented candles sold at the stalls)

22:10 (Do you want it?)

22:12 (Chieftain is on the move)

22:16 (Put it on my tab) // Really?

22:18 (Again…?)

22:20 Is he buying it as a present for me?

22:21 Oh, I got a present~

22:23 It’s the first present I’ve received in New York

22:25 (Harlem Chieftain’s Friendship Present)

22:32 Wow~ What’s this?

22:34 (This time she’s found perfumes!)

22:38 (Unique scents that look like magic potions)

22:41 (Interesting)

22:43 (Chieftain is on the move again)

22:46 (Just give it to me first!)

22:48 (Yeap! Chieftain)

22:50 (Harlem Chief’s power is sparkling everywhere)

22:55 Malcolm X

22:58 (Malcolm X Boulevard) (Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard)

23:02 Let me give you the real history of Malcolm X

23:05 (:Suddenly: The Chief goes on a tangent about history;) //  Malcolm X was part of the Nation of Islam

23:10 At a point, he left the Nation of Islam so that he could help the nation that he was in.  // (Earnestly)

23:13 (He did a lot of great things during his lifetime) [T/N: The show itself puts different subtitles here, and that’s what these are]

23:15 (For AfAms, and for the rights of people all over the world, he stood at the forefront…)

23:20 (Malcolm X was a radical who boldly expressed the AfAm’s rage)

23:26 (Martin Luther King was the leader of a nonviolent liberation movement)

23:30 I follow the beliefs of Malcolm X

23:31 (Flinch)

23:33 (As expected, Chief is a man of action)

23:35 You see that hotel?

23:36 This was the hotel that used to be only for the whites

23:39 The black hotel was down there… // (Hotel access was discriminated by race)

23:42 (For Black people use) (For White people use) // (So the color of the walls are also white)

23:44 (How interesting)

23:48 :Even so: Things got better

23:50 (It looks that way)

23:53 (Magic Johnson Theatre)

23:55 (From various shopping malls to hot restaurants)

23:58 (Nowadays Harlem is well maintained)

24:01 This building here is Bill Clinton’s office

24:06 (The previous president Clinton’s office is in Harlem!)

24:10 (This was the turning point instrumental in changing Harlem)

24:14 Harlem was once known as an area of high crime. // (An alienated resident for black people)

24:16 But with the hard work and sacrifice of many people Harlem underwent a huge transformation// (The Harlem that was once used to symbolize the slums has changed)

24:21 (You can now easily meet various tourists) // Now it’s a place tourists can enjoy

24:25 (The initial nervousness has disappeared in front of NY Fam’s eyes) // Ny Fam is also, slowly falling for the charms of Harlem

24:28 (Welcome to Harlem~)

24:32 (When discussing Harlem, this is a place you can’t leave out!)

24:37 (Harlem’s Famous Spot - Apollo Theater) // The Apollo Theater is extremely famous… this is because

24:41 There was an old TV show… it was like an audition program

24:46 (The Playground of Michael Jackson’s Younger Stages) // I’m a huge fan of Michael Jackson

24:49 On a program called “Amateur Night”…

24:52 :Jackson Five: When MJ was nine years old he won there

24:55 That video… when I was little it was like a black and white…

24:58 (My idol Michael Jackson’s past) // … It came out a lot on TV and in CFs…

25:02 There’s MJ and also Stevie Wonder, Nat King Cole, Lionel Richie…

25:08 These legendary people performed there… // (:Harlem’s Hotspot Apollo Theater: From skilled newbies to legendary singers)

25:11 (The stars who are striving to be the best want to stand on this stage) // …anyone who dreams of gaining recognition and hitting it big want to stand on that stage in the Apollo Theater

25:18 (Since we’re in Harlem)

25:19 (Can his dream come become reality…?)

25:23 (It’s right there!)

25:27 (Daebak) Wow! It’s the Apollo Theater!

25:30 (A wave of emotion)

25:33 Wow! We’re at the Apollo Theater~ It’s great~~

25:35 (:Over 40 years ago: Michael Jackson stood on this stage!!!) // I really have to treasure this~~

25:39 (Totally excited)

25:42 (This is the holy grail of black music)

25:45 (The Apollo Theater was opened in 1914)

25:49 This is really old… I watched it (Amateur Night) when I was like, in elementary school

25:51 (Amateur Night - :Nearly 80 year History: Ella Fitzgerald, Jimmy Hendrix, etc. were all discovered through the audition-like program)

25:55 Oh it is here, now.

25:57 (Here the floor is covered with the names of legendary musicians)

26:13 (Just looking a t the names makes you feel like you’re meeting them in person)

26:16 (Lionel Richie)

26:18 (You don’t know the famous song “Hello”?!)

26:23 (You know x2)

26:25 (The Harlem Friends are even more amazed)

26:33 (:And: There’s another thing that Harlem loves!)

26:35 (Basketball)

26:37 (Here) (And There)

26:41 (Little Michael Jordans)

26:46 (Little Shaquille O’Neal)

26:50 (Surprised)

26:53 What sort of kids are these;

26:56 Those kids dream of the NBA

27:00 (This friend right here is…)

27:03 (:NBA Legend from Harlem: Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s successor!)

27:06 (Harlem Chieftain is on the move)

27:09 (Hey~)

27:10 (Of course, here is also his homeground)

27:13 (A quick 3:3 match with the NBA Dreamers)

27:16 (Real…ly???)

27:18 (The mainland of basketball, America)

27:19 (Not only that, but Harlem!)

27:22 (Their only hope is 2m tall, Kairi)

27:24 (NY Family’s Ace - John Park)

27:27 (Picked only because he’s tall - Lee Chunhee)

27:30 (Should we see what real basketball is like?)

27:36 (HBA - NY Fam) (Match Start) (HBA - Harlem Dreamers)

27:38 (The first team to get five points wins)

27:40 They’re super fast

27:42 (From the start Player 7 moves at the speed of light!)

27:47 (Goal in!)

27:49 (Swiftly taking preemptive measures to overpower the baseline)

27:52 (Don’t mess around)

27:53 (What just happened?)

27:55 (It’s great that they’re not running, at least)

27:59 (John Park’s Chance!)

28:00 (Whack)

28:02 (Blockling)

28:04 (Daebak)

28:06 Chunhee ya! :Support?: Don’t be nervous :Making fun?: You’re too obvious right now

28:10 (You come here, then)

28:15 (Tap shot success)

28:18 (NY Fam 0 : Harlem Dreamers 2)

28:20 (NY Fam is properly suffering from Harlem Basketball)

28:22 (We’re in big trouble)

28:23 (We’re this type of person)

28:27 (If there are Harlem Swifts)

28:31 (Then we have Long-legs Kairi)

28:38 (Even a slight jump takes him to goal level)

28:39 (Iron blocking)

28:43 (That friend’s strong~)

28:46 (And… Our Ace John Park is burning with greed for success)
28:51 (Not even looking, he delivers a perfect pass!)

28:54 (His eyes even scan the back)

28:57 (He keeps coming with the fantastic assists)

29:02 (Even the rebounds are unhesitant)

29:05 (You’re cool, Ace~)

29:09 (It’s NY Fam’s offense again)

29:14 (Pass)

29:15 (Kairi’s chance for a point)

29:21 (NY Fam’s first point…?!)

29:23 (Goal in)

29:25 (Finally, their first point)

29:28 (Combination Play)

29:31 (From the stands, support is forthcoming)

29:33 (Good job)

29:34 (Starting to turn in NY Fam’s favor)

29:38 (Kairi is swift like water)

29:41 (Continuous points!!)

29:43 (Our side’s doing well~)

29:48 (Light)

29:49 (NY Fam 4 : Harlem Dreamers 2)

29:52 (The stands have become more ominous)

29:55 (Following the momentum, one more point?!)

29:59 (Chunhee dropped Kairi’s pass)

30:01 I couldn’t read it

30:02 Ah, so close

30:07 (Chunhee’s misplays keep coming)

30:09 (Where are you going;)

33:09 (This reaction is a direct result of trying it for themselves)

33:14 (They’re all the same)

33:16 It was a  strange and awkward first meeting…

33:19 But, sweating together and laughing together…

33:22 (It was fun)

33:23 That awkwardness quickly disappears

33:26 Regardless of skin color, these kids have become friends

33:29 Ahn-nyeong-ha-sae-yo

33:31 This is how NY Fam made unforgettable memories in Harlem

33:34 (Though their first meeting was a little strange and awkward)

34:09 (John Park, with outstanding resources!)

34:14 (From the appearance we’ve come to know)

34:16 (There’s another, hidden side of him?)

34:18 (John Park - The X Files) // A lot of people misunderstood…

34:22 I must have looked really… foolish

34:25 People asked… “Was that kid really always like that”..

34:28 I don’t really have any thoughts // (Uncaring Image)

34:31 (:Severe Aftershock: Still with the same smirk as before~)

34:32 (Misunderstandings and Truth) // I’ve been on a broadcast together (with Jinhee) before

34:36 It was a fake documentary…

34:38 My character was one of a total fool…

34:40 (So he had already met Jinhee on another program…) // I heard that you know John Park

34:41 Huh? // You’ve seen each other before

34:45 They said you kissed

34:47 (What’s up with this guy…)

34:49 So, I don’t think anyone’s first impression of me is on the good side // (Strange man, John Park)

34:52 (After the shoot) I didn’t know what I was doing there…

34:55 They said they thought that Lee Juck and I were really strange and left

35:00 I want to clear up that misunderstanding.. and speak fluent English…

35:03 To recover my image. // (Helper Angel wants to transform his image)

35:08 (In the space Vitamin Girl Ailee left behind)

35:13 (I’ll take responsibility!)

35:14 (Moon Agency → John Agency) (:A New World: A third wave that calls him in!)

35:19 What are you doing, oppa? // Oh, right now…

35:44 (John Park is conversing with someone)

35:49 (Helper Angel has enlisted the help of a female named Alice)

[[ 35:54 How did your shows go this weekend?

- It was great~ It was awesome. Are you still down to help me out today?

- There’s work for today?

36:18 My friend is doing some musicals off Broadway

36:23 (Broadway?!!!!!)

36:28 What work?

36:29 Manager of a musical actor!

36:31 Really? It seems fun // Let’s go meet my friend and see

36:34 (He chooses Jinhee to be his partner) // I don’t think there’ll be much

36:36 Let’s go, let’s go, let’s go!! It’ll be fun

36:37 You want to come with? // Let’s go!

36:39 Wait a sec! You two…

36:44 (An aerobics elder has entered)

36:49 What’ll you be doing? // (This hyung smells something up with those two’s sweet scent)

36:53 We’re going to make money!

36:54 I’ve been making calls to my friends all weekend and I’ve got us a job!

36:58 (Stutter x2) In any case, do only work and come back! Got it?

37:01 We’ll make a lot oppa~

37:03 (Observation Record of Human JP - 1. Full of Networks)

37:06 (Before leaving for work, Helper Angel has something else to do)

37:09 It’s Jjampong Rice!

37:11 (Before going to work he has to take care of the family’s stomachs) // I brought these from korea

37:14 In case the members couldn’t eat Korean food…

37:17 (Bubble x2) This is right! It’s supposed to look like this.

37:22 (Taking the food, and heading toward the bathroom?)

37:30 You have to eat!

37:33 (John Park’s Food Delivery Service) // What is it?

37:35 (Special delivery to the front of the bathroom) // I made food.

37:39 Let’s eat and then go out together~ ^^

37:41 Oh really? Wow~

37:43 (Observation Record of Human JP - 2. Lives for Eating) // It’s good.

37:47 Have a good day~

37:49 (Before leaving for work, Secretary Baek doles out allowance)

37:54 (NY Fam’s First - Heading for Broadway, Go! Go!)

37:58 The weather’s great~

38:00 I wanted to go to church on the weekend after coming to America…

38:04 Should we ride the carriage? // Carriage?

38:05 (Since the weather’s good there are a lot of things she wants to do)

38:09 :Joking again?: Aren’t you going to think at least a little about work?

38:13 Work is… we can go and then think about it

38:17 (Not very excited about going to Broadway)

38:20 What’s this, a cathedral?

38:24 This must be an eatery!

38:26 (A famous eatery also catches the eye)

38:32 (Looking around)

38:35 (On unfamiliar streets)

38:37 Should we take the subway?

38:39 (Clear on the plan) // Ah, no the subway here takes the card, we can just ride up top

38:43 (Observation Record of Human JP - 3. Strong driving force)

38:46 Can I get change in quarters for three dollars?

38:50 (But… After changing the money)

38:57 I think he gave us fifty cents more

38:59 (The money they’ve gained from a mistake… is properly returned)

[[ 39:05 You gave us more change

- Huh?

- You gave us more change, than uh…

- I did? Thank you~ ^^ I appreciate it! ]]

39:15 (Observation Record of Human JP - 4. He’s honest)

39:21 I got a text about the work!

39:23 (A text from his musical actress friend)

39:26 (Surprise)

39:30 What’s up with her~

39:32 A thousand bucks?

39:34 (Really?!)

39:36 (As expected Broadway’s Scale is different?!) // Isn’t that too much?

39:39 Oppa~ I was right to follow you here!

39:42 (Smiling widely)

39:47 (The bus arrived at a good time) // We just have to ride this!

39:50 Do you know how much it is, Oppa?

39:52 (I’ll take care of it~)

39:54 (Quickly taking care of the bus fee)

39:57 (They’re on the bus…but there are ladies near them)

40:03 In this situation… if Moon were here he’d keep talking with them wouldn’t he?

40:08 Yup.. I would just be looking out the window

40:10 (I like the bus too…)

40:14 But oppa, I think you walk a little slowly

40:16 (I was matching your pace..?)

40:18 When I walk with the other oppas, I’m always running to catch up with them, it’s hard ;;

40:22 But with you the strides are perfect!

40:25 (Brother-Sister with matching strides) // I was always a little slow

40:29 In our family… I think I’ve had the best yet worst luck with jobs ;;

40:33 There hasn’t been a day that I’ve been able to rest

40:36 (Thinking about it comfortably and grumbling about it)

40:40 We should take a picture for our first time riding the bus! // Let’s!

40:42 I’ll take it from the best angle~

40:45 (Taking a selca with her own cell phone) // Isn’t this great? Like an ulzzang…

40:47 (Taking off his sunglasses and moving right on it~)

40:54 (Aegyo ability)

40:56 (This guy’s like a black hole)

41:01 (Later on Jinhee, too… Bbu~~)

41:05 (Observation Record of Human JP - 5. Infectious Aegyo)

41:08 (Happy Siblings)

41:11 Ya, we have to get off here! // Oh no!

41:13 (Laughing and playing, they almost missed their stop;)

41:19 Push the button…

41:21 (They were well on their way… but after coming it’s all muddled)

41:26 Ah.. how embarrassing;;

41:28 We were playing around taking pictures;;

41:32 (:Thankfully: They safely got off at a stop near Broadway)

41:35 If we go this way is it Times Square?

41:38 Is that it…?

41:40 (Finally meeting Broadway)

41:48 (Broadway Theater District)

41:51 (From 40th~54th Street, 6~8 Avenue, the area is full of many theaters; It is considered the heart of the Musical world)

42:02 Ah~ I really like this!

42:03 She must be somewhere over there

42:05 (Our destination today is a little out of the ways place)

[[ 42:09 Alice?

- Hi, we’re here. Where are you? You see me? ]]

42:17 She’s right there!

42:20 (Finally!)

42:21 (John Park’s first New York Networker!)

42:23 (Reunion with the Broadway actress!)

42:25 How are you~~

42:29 (A girl with an outstanding voice and extraordinary poise!)

42:35 (A youthful girl! What type of person is she?!)

42:40 (Currently a big hit Off Broadway!)

42:43 (One of the mains in the musical Heathers, Alice!)

42:47 (She’s been in the up and coming American audition program)

42:51 (Currently in the Top13, she’s the talk of the town!)

42:57 I was surprised. She’s so full of energy… // (Full of Charms, Alice)

43:02 Her “thank you”s are said like “Thank You~~”. I was amazed

43:06 (Sunglasses anyone would find hard to look over) // I’ve known her since elementary schoool…

43:09 (John Park has been close friends with her since elementary, Alice)

43:12 She’s currently a musical actress in New York

43:17 Oh~ Thank you~

43:23 (A unique voice, and unique gestures)

43:30 (Her daily life is a musical, Crazy (?) Girl)

43:32 Sorry for being late

43:35 Can’t we just speak Korean? // Yes~ I can speak Korean

43:38 (Sudden Introduction)

43:43 (Even her laugh is similar to John Park’s ;)

43:45 :Quickly blank -faced: Okay, well this is the theater

43:47 (Before going in she starts with promotions~)

43:53 (In Heathers, she’s green)

43:54 (Alive is boldly listed as part of the cast)

43:59 (Going Backstage on Broadway for the first time)

44:00 (Then, from now!)

44:03 (Never seen on broadcast until now!)

44:06 (Revealing the shocking backstage of Broadway Musicals!)

44:10 Wow, I’m really curious.

44:13 So this here is backstage?

44:16 (This is where the famous musicals take place)

44:22 So this one building has various theaters in it

44:25 Ours is the biggest theater…

44:27 Is it because yours is doing the best?

44:29 (I’m doing quite well)

44:32 (A girl with strong charms)

44:35 As a manager I should be opening these kinds of things!

44:38 (Opening the door…)

44:40 (Finally revealing the insides of Broadway!)

44:43 When you first come in, all the actors sign in…

44:46 (Seeing for the first time, the actor’s roll call!)

44:52 (Even in Broadway if you’re absent you’ll get scolded ;)

44:56 (There are signed posters and playbills)

45:02 (There are even accessories from the stage!)

45:06 (Outfits that you can wear at any time)

45:08 (Aligned neatly with name tags!)

45:13 (At that time, the other actresses from the musical come from the waiting room)

45:17 (Nice to see you)

45:19 (Greeting the actors)
45:21 (Guided to the stage before the performance!)

45:24 Can we go up? On stage?

45:26 (All of this is thanks to John Park’s special networking!)

45:31 (Even as an actress herself, Jinhee is amazed)

45:37 Ya, as expected it’s different

45:39 (Like a fish in water)

45:42 (After coming on stage her energy goes up by ten times)

45:47 (How many seats are there?)

45:49 499!

45:51 Once it hits 500, then it has to be Broadway

45:56 (Broadway: 500 seats and up; Off-Broadway: 10~499 seats; Off Off-Broadway: 100 seats and lower)

46:01 (Now the secret place!) 46:04 (The actors’ waiting room!)

46:08 (So interesting)

46:12 (Bulbs and Mirrors you only ever see in movies)

46:17 (This is)

46:19 (the open performance)

46:20 (full of the actors’ sweat)

46:22 (The insides of Broadway)

46:25 (But… it’s a little messy k k)

46:30 This is your seat?

46:32 There’s a beer bottle right there?

46:39 For after the show~!

46:41 (A girl with cool charms)

46:43 What.. what sort of big musical did you do in New York?

46:47 Spring Awakening!

46:50 (Spring Awakening’s original member Alice)

46:54 Spring Awakening, I saw it. In Korea!

46:59 (The actor who appeared in Korea’s version of Spring Awakening, Joo Won)

47:03 (But she doesn’t really know the name of the actor ;)

47:06 Oh right! Joo Won!

47:11 So you saw that? // Yes, I saw them practicing.

47:15 Were you born here? // Yes, in Chicago.

47:17 (Like John Park, she’s also from Chicago)

47:19 (They’ve been close friends since elementary school)

47:21 (Embarrassed;)

47:24 What happened back then?

47:26 We met in fifth grade.

47:27 (A fate that started when they were ten)

47:31 So… even at that time she was good at singing. At school she was always the person who did the best

47:40 How was John? In elementary?

47:44 Shy~

47:47 (This is… what you call “Shy”?)

47:53 In middle school we went to different schools but…

47:56 We did music together // We did musicals together

48:01 First love?

48:02 (Are they really first loves?)

48:03 I think you guys were really first loves!

48:05 We were just *some, *some [T/N: Colloquial term: Complicated love relationship]

48:08 (Fifteen years ago these two were some(?)..)

48:11 (No way, are they still…?)

48:15 In elementary.. ohoo~

48:18 Do you have a boyfriend? // I don’t!

48:20 Oppa doesn’t have a girlfriend right now either! // Oh really?

48:24 (Skinship~)

48:26 (Then… Should we try it once? k k)

48:27 He’s got to go back to Korea though!

48:29 Long-distance is hard!

48:31 (Long.. distance?)

48:36 (A cold rejection)

48:39 Ah~ That’s so funny~

48:41 In high school we did a musical together

48:45 (What musical?)

48:47 (Les Miserables!)

48:50 Javert!

48:53 (The heavy role of Detective Javert?!)

48:59 (Did he do well…?!;)

49:01 (Alice took the role of Eponine)

49:03 Show us Les Miserables!

49:04 Oh my god, are we singing together?

49:08 Alice singing On My Own is really…

49:11 Show us~ Show us~

49:14 (Doing it once, with feeling!)

49:23 (The time when she dreamt of becoming a musical actress)

49:26 (Back when she had a friend to sing with)

49:35 (Thinking about those times…)

49:46 (Good job, very good~)

49:48 My nose is a little stuffy… ;;

49:52 I remember this too!

49:56 (What is it this time..?) // When we were at church…

49:58 Oh my god~

50:00 (Suddenly hyped) // We were in a band at church, too

50:02 (These two were also in a band at church together) // Alice sang, and I sang, and we played the guitar really badly…

50:09 (:Thinking of those times: Alice & John Park’s Duet)

50:21 (Singing together, they make a perfect harmony)

50:34 (The memories are flowing)

50:43 (Despite the suddenness of the request, their singing doesn’t waver)

50:56 (Even though her voice isn’t at its best condition)

51:04 (She leaves off with a casual ending)

51:09 You stopped singing in the chorus!

51:11 You were doing so well I didn’t want to interrupt

51:13 I thought I would mess it up~ ;;

51:17 (Shy x2)

51:19 (Six years ago she came to New York carrying her own dream)

51:22 (In the face of serious competition, she made it into Broadway)

51:27 (From then on she was soon standing on the stage of her dreams)

51:33 (Nearing the performance time, the audience starts to gather!) // So what’ll we be doing?

51:36 (In quickly approaching time they’ll need to do their managerial business!) // Errands? Yea,h, I thought of some stuff.

51:41 Some brushes…

51:44 Hair brushes? // No, no. I need makeup brushes…

51:46 (Thankfully, Jinhee understood)

51:49 Why don’t you get me a juice

51:53 There’s a place called D’Vida…

51:55 (A detailed order that she kindly gives the spelling to)

51:58 I want the large Glow.. they’ll know what that is

52:00 (An extremely delicate and demanding (?) order k k)

52:02 And a grass roots bar

52:05 (He wrote it down diligently… but it’s still a little uneasy…)

52:11 (Thirty minutes until rehearsal time! All they have to do is buy what’s on her list!)

52:21 (Incidentally revealing a makeup shop in the area)

52:24 (They found it thanks to the musical’s promotional poster)

52:29 (They’ve entered the shop.. and as expected Jinhee finds what they need)

52:36 (Thanks to Jinhee they easily complete the sale)

52:41 You have the reciept, right? // Uh-huh.

52:43 (To the juice shop whose name is hard to say, Go!)

52:46 Let’s go quickly! We have five minutes left

52:49 (The most demanding juice order)

52:53 (But there are so many on the menu!)

52:58 (Anxiously tapping his hands)

53:02 (Ordering as he’s written it, but…)

53:05 (There’s something on the list that isn’t available anymore!)

53:11 (Uneasy x2)

53:13 (Since it isn’t there, just ordering the juice)

53:17 Oh no~ ;;

53:18 (In their haste they spill some juice)

53:22 (First Love (?) are like this… k)

53:25 (Just before rehearsal! Thankfully Alice is waiting at the doors)

53:29 (Out of Breath)

53:33 (She checks through what they’ve bought…)

53:36 (Though it was rushed, everything is correct)

53:42 (The rehearsal is right in front of her nose, Alice has to go)

53:47 (With heavy hearts they say their farewells)

53:50 (Despite this being their first meeting, the two quickly became close)

53:56 (Even though it was a short meeting…)

53:58 (We’re always cheering you on, Alice~)

54:02 (It’s sad but, it’s not 1000 dollars…)

54:04 (A reasonable wage, at twelve dollars an hour, they made 48 dollars!)

54:08 (The next day, April 15 - Early Morning)

54:14 (The Manhattan Morning is met with the sound of the emergency siren)

54:20 (Good Morning~)

54:23 (Jinhee goes out for a morning walk with a self-camera)

54:25 This is New York’s work day morning

54:28 People are walking very busily

54:32 (Without even sparing a glance, the people of Manhattan are on their way to work)

54:40 (But why… is she filming by herself?)

54:45 (Satisfied)

54:49 A squirrel, a squirrel~

54:51 Hi, squirrel~ // (Good morning~ ^^)

54:54 There’s one over there too

54:56 (With various angles, filming queen Baek Jinhee) // Wow, there are a lot of squirrels~

54:59 (Peek~)

55:01 (Even reporting from some more…unique angles)

55:05 (But this girl… why is she out for a walk in the morning?!)

55:11 WOW~~

55:13 (The thing she’s seen is?!)

55:17 (America’s Debt… is 17 trillion dollars?!) (One family’s debt - National Debt Clock)

55:21 (Each household is about 150 thousand dollars in debt?)

55:23 (Baek Jinhee’s Hope) // Not long ago I was at home watching TV…

55:26 Two sisters adopted from America were unadopted and hurt because of it

55:32 They were roaming around New York and became part of the homeless population

55:36 :Seeing that: I thought that New York was indeed very glamourous and as we’ve seen it in movies,

55:42 But there’s also a lot of people in parks who carry their things around in black plastic bags,

55:47 People who live off one bread a day

55:52 “The world’s wealthiest city may be New York, but lately…”

55:56 That’s correct. Even in the country known for it’s wealth,

56:00 (New York Citizens who use free food shelters - 120 million ppl in 2008 > 140 million in 2014 ) // Between the cracks, there are those who are falling deeper into a state of living

56:07 Of the citizens of New York, one in five is likely to use food services

56:10 If I could give even a little hope to those in need?

56:15 (According to Jinhee’s wishes, they’ve come to this place to put their help into practice)

56:20 (Bowery Mission - Offering three meals, seven days a week. Every day volunteers serve 600~800 meals with food donated by the citizens of New York)

56:28 (The oppas also join in on helping with maknae Jinhee’s wish)

56:32 While working, is there anything we need to be careful of?

[[ 56:36 The only thing I always try to remind our volunteers, is to understand their situation.

56:40 Always serve them with a smile

56:42 Sometimes you may be the first people during the day to have smiled at them

56:46 Normally they’re walking through the streets, or they’re in a shelter or some place else…

56:50 There’s not a lot of happiness. So we want to bring a little bit of joy and happiness to their lives ]]

56:55 (Today… let’s see who we can make smile)

57:01 (As soon as they come they’re introduced to their designated kitchen)

57:04 Very delicious smell~

57:08 (His pronunciation is quite hard to understand;)

57:11 I thought you said I had a delicious smile ^^;

57:13 (Full of sense)

57:16 (Ping - Bowery Mission’s Kitchen Supervisor; - Born in Thailand, Chelsea Market restaurant chef, - Periodically takes time off work to come and volunteer)

57:22 (Today’s lunch menu is…)

57:26 (Warm rice) (Chicken) (Shrimp Etupe)

57:35 We also made lobster with butter garlic sauce!

57:37 (Lob…ster?)

57:44 (Various luxury foods are on the lunch menu)

57:48 (Lunch time is coming, they have to prepare quickly!)

57:54 (Wearing a hair net for the first time in their lives)

57:59 (From the menu to hygiene, this place is organized)

58:04 (For today, Jinhee is the captain)

58:06 (Sniffle x2)

58:08 (Are you… crying right now?)

58:12 (There are tears here too;) (Here too;)

58:16 Why are you crying?

58:18 Ah.. it’s really spicy;;

58:21 Ah.. I’m tearing up;;

58:23 (Starting off by diligently (?) cutting onions)

58:26 She told us to cut like this?

58:29 (Following maknae Jinhee’s lead, working up a sweat)

58:38 (Chef Ping looks only for Jinhee)

58:42 (Finding) (Ordering) (Dispatching work)

58:49 (Even if she had ten bodies it’d be lacking but she’s enjoying it)

58:56 (Doling out rice, organizing desserts)

59:01 (It’s busy but enjoyable)

59:03 The menu was very diverse and in terms of nutrition it was well balanced

59:09 Lasagna, lobster, salad, dessert, and even fruits

59:13 The nutritional value of the meals was really well put together…

59:21 (From kitchen work to manual labor, she’s doing it alone)

59:24 Jinhee-ya, you’re really doing a lot

59:26 I’m really busy, oppa

59:28 (The Captain’s final words are? Finished~)

59:36 (Even work that requires some strength, finished~)

59:40 (A girl who sees things through to the end, Finish Girl Baek Jinhee!)

59:44 (Rattle)

59:46 (A soup pot of a distracting size enters)

59:51 (Exactly how many guests are coming to eat…?)

59:56 You can probably even boil me in this!

1:00:00 (Five minutes before open!)

1:00:02 (Preparations complete! Now it’s serving time!)

1:00:06 :Don’t forget: Smile!

1:00:07 (In case they’ve forgotten, reminders)

1:00:12 (Awake is as good a time as any to SMILE!)

1:00:16 (NY Fam starts off with sudden nerves)

1:00:19 (The guests flow in like water!)

1:00:22 (The video you are seeing is the actual events, filmed in current time at the location)

1:00:26 (They serve earnestly but…)

1:00:30 (The one thing that doesn’t change is their responses with bright smiles)

1:00:35 Rice, one spoon? Two spoons?

1:00:39 Ok~ Two spoons! kkwak kkwak! (Full!)

1:00:40 Kkwak Kkwak!

1:00:44 (Everything is going off without a problem with their world language of a smile)

1:00:49 (But then!)

1:00:51 (People with an unusual appearance enter)

1:00:55 (Not only that but with so many people, the servers are out of wits!)

1:01:00 (Keeping a smile on your face is not an easy thing to do!!)

1:01:04 (In the meantime!)

1:01:05 (The person wearing a mask enters!)

1:01:10 (Flustered)

1:01:16 (He hasn’t stopped smiling but he’s really uneasy)

1:01:22 (Not giving up, he’s doing it thoroughly until the end)

1:01:26 (Still as cold as before)

1:01:29 (Continuing forward in this uneasy situation!)

1:01:32 (What do I do ;;)

1:01:35 Smile!

1:01:39 (That’s right… smile!!!)

1:01:42 (Friendly smiling and even using aegyo!)

1:01:47 (Their frozen hearts are starting to melt)

1:01:52 Wow~! Nice guy! Sunglasses good!

1:01:57 Fashion leader!

1:01:59 (These guys have good eyes?)

1:02:02 (With friendly smiles, somehow they’re starting to become one)

1:02:07 (But… young kids with a clean cut appearance enter)

1:02:11 (Are these volunteers…?!)

1:02:14 I only thought that the people I was serving were the homeless

1:02:19 What surprised me the most was that people looking for employment came!

1:02:23 They don’t have a fixed income, they have to get ready to find work…

1:02:26 There were a lot of people who went there to eat

1:02:30 (Whether it’s youngsters serving or youngsters being served)

1:02:36 (They all have the same existence…)

1:02:38 There was just a warm feeling in there

1:02:40 They are able to live like this or like that…

1:02:43 I think it was a harder thing to do than I had thought

1:02:46 How to divide…

1:02:49 With laughter… and bright smiles… being able to give those people some strength…

1:02:56 Since I couldn’t use words to communicate… but it was really good. It was time well spent

1:03:01 Saying “Have a nice lunch” to each and every person…

1:03:06 Seeing them smile, I think I became happy with them

1:03:10 I think we’ll leave today having realized a lot of things

1:03:16 (Countless people have come and gone…)

1:03:19 (Countless greetings were made and said)

1:03:21 (Eventually this place has become quiet)

1:03:25 (After finishing up serving, neatly cleaning up)

1:03:32 (In this unfamiliar place, it is not “I” but becomes “you”)

1:03:41 I was thinking about making money, and “How should I spend this money” but…

1:03:46 I think I was also able to do good things, for a rewarding and proud day ^^

1:03:59 Going to that place directly

1:04:06 Talking with those people directly

1:04:11 Switching places with those people

1:04:17 “Their” story is not “other’s”

1:04:22 But can become “ous”

1:04:27 So doing, Laws of the City has realized another law of life

1:04:35 And a truth more important than anything…

1:04:38 In our lives, even as time passes there are things you don’t forget, things you need to remember

1:04:50 That night…

1:04:54 Ah… It’s April, what snow is this…

1:04:56 Will it be snowing in Korea too, today?

1:04:58 Though we thought spring had already come to New York, it suddenly snowed that day

1:05:04 We couldn’t sleep at all this night

1:05:10 This night of the 16th of April

1:05:23 Next week!

1:05:48 Barricades… and security personnel…

1:05:21 (The Wolves of Wall Street have captured Wall Street!)

1:05:59 (The writer Kent has finally contacted them!)

1:06:02 Let’s go meet him // We’re meeting? Finally?

1:06:05 (But…)

1:06:07 (An unusual feeling is rising between Moon & Jinhee)

1:06:09 (Will their Hollywood meeting come to pass?)

1:06:24 In the heart of New York, A High-Spirited Story will come to pass!
