[14.03.27] Royal Pirates, First Steps in Japan “Bringing K-Rock to Rock Heaven”

[Sports Hankook | Reporter Lee Jeonghyun] Rock band Royal Pirates have made their first steps into rock heaven, Japan.

After releasing their first Japanese mini album [Shout Out] on the 24th, the Royal Pirates found themselves starting visits for promotions on the 26th. The day after the album was released, it ranked 2nd on Tower Records’ Shibuya store daily comprehensive charts, leading towards much expectation for their future activity.

On the 30th, the Royal Pirates will hold a mini-live event at Tokyo, Shibuya Tower Records and go on a live broadcast. On the 31st they will hold their first solo showcase at the center of Japan’s thriving youth, Harajuku LaForet Hall and meet with Japanese fans and leading music industry insiders.

Their company, Apple of the Eye, states, “As a rock band Royal Pirates will go beyond the existing K-pop in the Japanese music market, you can expect to see different charms and appeals,” conveying, “Using existing large scale promotional methods and keeping different strategies in mind, they will start the challenge of becoming pioneers in the Japanese music market to create a new success story.”

 The company goes on to reveal, “On March 28 and 29, Royal Pirates will perform the opening stage for Lee Minho’s fan-meeting at Japan’s Yokohama National University Hall.” This concert will be the second meeting of Lee Minho and global rookie Royal Pirates, as RP has been gaining a reputation after they had opened for Lee Minho’s encore tour Seoul fan-meet in January.

For their duration in Japan, Royal Pirates will hold their first showcase and start various other promotional activities in what can be called “band heaven” (Japan), making their first steps in the (global) Asian market.

After their return (to Korea) on the 31st, Royal Pirates leader Moon will depart again for New York on April 1st for the filming of SBS “Law of the City”; Much expectation is gearing up for Royal Pirates in light of all their various activities.

All the members of Royal Pirates know how to write lyrics and compose. The members all write songs but as they are a bit lacking in Korean language skills they receive help writing lyrics. For this “Drawing the Line” album all members put out ideas and coordinated with a producer. They revealed that the songs on the album are ones that were written one and a half years ago. Their goal this year is to release many songs that they’ve made themselves, saying passionately, “We want to show that “this is the music we make” and leave our own stamp. By the end of the year, no matter if it is small, it’s good as long as we can perform.”

[Korean Economy/WowTV Korea Reporter Yang Soyoung] Singer Cho Yongpil, actor Lee Minho, Daniel Henney, Hwang Shinhye’s daughter Lee Jini, to Busker Busker Brad. The common point among these people? The band Royal Pirates. The three member band that has been blowing up the search engines and catching attention is made up of vocal Moon, bassist James, and drummer Sooyoon. They made their debut in the music industry last August with the release of their digital single “Shout Out”, and through audition participated in the SuperSonic 2013 festival. As Super Rookie chosen by Cho Yongpil, they also received attention by participating in the recording of the campaign song.
