[Billboard Korea | Journalist Shim Sae Geol] “Song King” Cho Yongpil’s selected new stars- rock band Royal Pirates have successfully finished their debut stage.
On the 15th, the 88-yard Seoul Olympic Park opened its grounds to Super Sonic 2013 where the Royal Pirates showcased a total of six songs, including their debut song “Shout Out” which is to be released at the end of the month. They caught the audience’s entire attention with their professional attitude, showing off their skill in performance and singing.
The Royal Pirates competed for their spot in Super Sonic 2013, winning with a competition rate of 50-to-1. Chosen as “Super Rookie” by Cho Yongpil, they have become the topic of conversation amongst officials and music fans alike. Despite the short 30-minute-only performance, like a global band, they arranged pop songs accordingly (to the rock genre) and received a hot response.
Their company Apple of the Eye states, “Even though they were the opening stage, as soon as their performance started, many people gathered in front of the stage in a flash, surprising even the event organizers.” They also added, “They haven’t even officially debuted yet, but after Super Sonic 2013 we immediately received love-calls from those who saw the performance.”
Royal Pirates is a three member boy band consisting of vocalist and guitarist Moon (Kim Moonchul), bassist James, and drummer Sooyoon (Kim Sooyoon). In 2008 they received training in Los Angeles, California, and gained experience by performing in clubs there. At the end of this month, they will make their official debut with the release of their first digital single “Shout Out.”
