At 1pm on the 15th, located at Songpa-gu, the 88 yard Seoul Olympic Park opened its grounds to Super Sonic 2013, where the Royal Pirates made not only their official debut, but were also the first to grace the stage that day.
Right on the stage, the Royal Pirates sang a total of six songs, including their as of yet unreleased debut song “Shout Out”. The performance was booming from the start. During their allotted 30 minute performance, with the enthusiastic cheers of onlookers and how they presented themselves on stage, you wouldn’t believe they were rookies.
Just after finishing their debut stage, not even given time to lose the rush, Royal Pirates met with Star News.

When asked their reactions about releasing their first song the members replied, “The audience seemed to like it,” revealing their joy by adding “at the chorus they jumped together with us and hummed along so we had fun.”

Cho Yongpil made headlines by selecting two bands for Super Sonic 2013 to be under the aforementioned title of “Super Rookie.” 100 teams competed in the challenge and with a competition rate of 50:1, the Royal Pirates not only made it through but openly received Cho Yongpil’s pick.
Sooyoon- in charge of drums- explains the reason he thinks they were selected in such a way as being, “through our stage which overflows with energy” confessing “when we were called in the end it felt really great.”
Royal Pirates, who were chosen as Super Rookie, were given the opportunity last November to take part in the recording of the [Super Sonic] festival’s campaign song “Let’s Go On A Trip” together with Cho Yongpil. In this sitting, the members together took the time to thank Cho Yongpil as well as many other senior singers for everything.
James- representing bass player- said, “It felt unreal, and I was just amazed. It was hard to approach Cho Yongpil-sunbaenim, so we were thrilled when he approached us familiarly first.”
