Group Royal Pirates’ Moon Kim has made his comeback.
On midnight on the 14th, Moon released his first solo album, and the first album single he’s produced titled “Dark Chocolate.”
“Dark Chocolate” is different from the electronic pop-rock that Royal Pirates usually releases, and is a song that shows off Moon Kim’s romantic vocals. This is not the first time Moon has released his own compositions, with “You” and “Haru” having been released in previous albums. Through his songs he successfully portrays the sweet love of the youth of today’s generation. “Dark Chocolate” conveys an even sweeter and refined message of love that everyone can relate to.
“Dark Chocolate” is an romantic urban song that carries Moon Kim’s distinctive lyrical melody. It is composed with the Royal Pirates’ electronic piano and urban elements, and together with a tropical sound makes for a sweet and trendy song. Not only has Moon Kim’s vocals grown, he also shows another level of sincerity by producing the track himself as well.
After the great reaction Royal Pirates received with the release of their third EP album “3.3” the group spent last summer in Los Angeles reconsidering their music and making sure produce a highly successful album for their comeback. In the span of a month, with their excellent production team the group finished recording and producing their album and began preparations to make their comeback. Unfortunately due to the worsening health of member James Lee, all activities were once again put on hold.
Restarting the band with just Moon Kim and Sooyoon Kim- the band format as well as style is currently undergoing much change. Before they make their official comeback, “Dark Chocolate” was released as a Valentine’s Day present in order to repay the love of fans who have been waiting for them for so long.
In the animated music video you can see a character based off of Moon, a story that brings the song to life, as well as a few special hidden drawings that Moon drew himself.
“The prep period for this song was really short, but I think it will become a really meaningful present for the fans,” says Moon. “I made this song for those who are currently in love, and those who are waiting to find love. I hope it can warm their hearts.”
Moon’s agency Apple of the Eye “Moon Kim’s “Dark Chocolate” is just the start of Royal Pirates’ solo releases and the bands’ comeback in 2017. Please wait to hear a newer sound from Royal Pirates in the future.”
