It’s the birthday of the magazine which marries New York and London- <NYLON>. The members of Royal Pirates- the band who has graced the pages of <NYLON> the most- have gifted us a playlist to listen to during the party.

NY: Beastie Boys - Sure Shot
Is there any other music that intuitively reminds one of New York other than the Beastie Boys’ “Sure Shot”? I feel like the cool attitude this song possesses is that of New York itself. No matter how much time passes, it is a song that is great to listen to and gives you a great vibe while walking on the streets of New York.
LON: Blur - Song2
If you’re just starting to open your eyes to the world of punk rock, then you have to listen to the music of this legendary band from London. You should definitely start with Blur’s “Song 2.″ With this song you feel like you’re jumping straight into London’s culture, and you can enjoy London and rock simultaneously.

NY: LCD Soundsystem - New York, I Love You But You’re Bringing Me Down
New York is a large, glamorous, and beautiful city. It’s also because of this that the city can also feel humbling and lonely. LCD Soundsystem’s song can convey this feeling. The dreamy and depressing music and video shows the basics of New York and gives off a fresh feeling in contrast to bright and happy songs.
LON: Adele - Hometown Glory
This song is the first that Adele wrote and composed herself, and it’s also the song she wrote while thinking of her hometown of London. It’s from 2007 and the full vocals and emotional piano performance make the song minimal. If you compare it to the 2015 release “Hello” it doesn’t lack, and in fact you still keep feeling the charm of its simplicity.

NY: One Night Only - Say You Don’t Want It
Every time I hear the band One Night Only’s songs I think of New York. That’s probably because I think of the music video of when the band’s vocalist George Craig and Emma Watson were dating and they walked and enjoyed themselves on the streets of New York. This music video has everything about New York that makes it cool and makes everything look awesome.
LON: Sam Smith - Writing’s on the Wall
This song is from the OST of the movie “007 Spectre” and is the thing that really kept the story and the mood of the it going for more than two hours. If you turn the volume way up the majestic sound of the orchestra fills you up and makes you feel as if you could be anywhere in London- just imagining yourself as James Bond.
